What a privilege it is for all of us at King’s Church International to be able to start this New Year by laying down a strong foundation of prayer and fasting. Prayer will sharpen our focus, quicken our spirits and release the supernatural anointing of God in our lives. Prayer is the fuel that powers the church. Prayer can change whole nations.
‘More is achieved by prayer than this world dreams of,’ wrote the poet Tennyson.
‘Nothing you can do will benefit you more than prayer’ said David Cho, founding pastor of the world’s largest church.
Jesus showed that everything that isn’t of God must be overturned so that we can make prayer the great priority of our lives.
Jesus said: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’ (Mark 11:17).
When we fast as well as pray, we are focussing our minds and bodies to see new levels of spiritual breakthrough.
Fasting can take different forms and should be carefully considered if you need medical advice. We suggest that you consider fasting food and drinks like wine, but not water, in some way each day, maybe fasting a meal or more. Also, it is good to ‘fast’ from other distractions like TV and social media.
These 21 days should be viewed an extended spiritual encounter with clearly focussed prayer. We recommend we pray into four areas. Pray for new levels of:
1. Your personal spiritual development
for pure hearts
for the presence of God
for the power of God
2. Your family
that all will walk close to the Lord
for close and united relationships
to all faithfully serve God in ministry
3. Your church
for the leaders of the church: senior pastors and 12 and cell leaders
for fruitfulness in every member and multiplication of disciples of Jesus
for financial blessing and buildings
4. Your nation and nations
to be freed from the pandemic
that national and local leaders would have protection and wisdom
for a great movement of spiritual revival, reconciliation and restoration
The 21 days of prayer and fasting are from January 4-24 in the UK, and January 11-31 in South Africa.
God bless you and all of us greatly,
Pastors Wes and Adriana Richards
