1. What provision is there for kids at KCI services?

We have multiple programmes for children aged between 3 and 13. The programmes and activities are targeted at children by their year group (see FAQ #4). All of the details are found on the main kids page here.

2. Can I leave my child in the FAMILY ROOM?

No. Children must be accompanied at all times in the Family Room. However, the Family Room will be served by an attendant who may be able to step in if you have a specific need to temporarily leave the room. Please speak with them.

3. What is the aim of the KCI Kids services?

We aim to provide opportunities for children to encounter Jesus, and to learn how to worship, pray, hear from and apply the Word in age appropriate ways. We aim to provide a fun, loving and safe environment for all children. Our Kids Services also play a part in our wider aim to support KCI parents as they raise their children to be disciples of Christ.

4. Why are the KCI Services for specific school years rather than ages?

We prefer to move groups of children up to their next service together at the start of a new school year, rather than when they turn a certain age, as this keeps friendship groups together and greatly helps them with the transition.

5. When can my child start going to the 3-5s programme?

The 3-5s programme is for pre-school and reception aged children. If your child is attending pre-school, at least for a full morning or afternoon session, then they can start attending this programme. If your child is not in pre-school but is age 2 and fully potty trained then again they can also start attending.

6. Why does my child need to be potty trained?

Our workers are not able to change nappies during the programme.

7. Do I need to register my children for KCI Kids Services?

Yes. You must register your child for every KCI Kids Service they attend. Please bring them to the registration desk where they will be registered as attending and will receive an identity label. You will also be provided with a Family Card which you will need to present when collecting your child.

Before your child's first attendance at a KCI Kids Service you will also need to fill in a consent form, which you can obtain at the registration desk.

From time to time we will also require you to complete consent forms again so that we can ensure that we also have accurate and excellent records.

8. What time, and where, does registration open for KCI Kids Services?

For the 3-5s programme, the registration desk is situated in the Theatre Foyer and opens at 9.15am. After you have registered them, your child will go into the main auditorium with you for Family Praise & Worship. A notice will then be displayed when it is time for you to take them out to the programme.

For the older children, the registration desk is situated on the first floor of the Harte & Garter Hotel, and opens at 9.15am. Once they are registered they can come straight into their programme.

9. Why does the 3-5s programme start after Praise and Worship?

We want these young children to be able to learn to Praise & Worship and to begin to experience the presence of God with their family.

10. How can I introduce my child into the KCI Kids Services?

We recognise that children can sometimes take a while to settle in to new environments, and we want them all to have a positive experience of settling in to church. If you are new to King's Church International or your child will be new to one of the KCI Kids Services, you are very welcome to come along with your child to help them settle in. We particularly encourage this if you are bringing your child to the 3-5s programme for the first time. We will have a designated area where you can sit, either with your child or simply to observe them as they join in with the programme.

11. What if my child doesn’t settle or misbehaves in a KCI Kids Service?

If your child has trouble settling, is distressed or is exhibiting disruptive behaviour in one of our Kids Services, one of our trained Welfare Officers will come alongside them to try to help them. However, if they are unable to resolve the issue, we will make a request for you to come and be with your child to help them settle and engage with their service.

We have a system in place whereby we can call for parents to come by displaying your unique family number (shown on your family card) on the screen in the main auditorium.

12. What if my child needs me during a service?

If we assess that your child needs you during a service, either in the event of an emergency or simply because they are not settling, or if your child asks for you during a service, we will call you.

We have a system in place whereby we can call for parents to come by displaying your unique family number (shown on your family card) on the screen in the main auditorium.

13. What time should I collect my child?

If your child is in 3-5s you should come and collect them immediately after the service in the main auditorium ends. The programmes for 5-9s and 9-13s finish at 11.15am. You will need to present your family card in order to collect your child.

14. How do you ensure that my child is safe at KCI Kids Services?

  • We have references and DBS checks for all of our workers, and they are all required to have attended Safeguarding Training.

  • We have high worker to child ratios, and all children are assigned to a specific (usually small group) leader who will watch over them during the programme.

  • We have an additional trained Welfare Team who oversee the general safety in the room, ensuring that no child can leave a room unaccompanied, and that no child can come to harm during the programme. They also oversee toilet runs ensuring that our stringent policies and procedures are followed, and respond to any cases of illness and First Aid issues.

  • We have an additional team of First Aiders on call.

  • We have a security presence for all of our Kids Services.

  • We have policies and processes in place to ensure that we quickly deal with any concerns we may have regarding the welfare of a child, or the conduct of a worker.

15. How do I access Windsor College for children’s events?

Please use the Student Entrance to enter the college, where you will be greeted by Welfare at the registration table. Car parking is available behind the college here.
